About the Design

“go away, I bite.”

This is an apartment designed for a client with a penchant for pop art, Doraemon, and bright colours.

A bright yellow door and retro gate signals the apartment entry. This opens onto a view of a baby grand with clouds of lights floating above. This element of surprise and drama continues to the interiors.

Constructed in the mid-80s, the fan-shaped building gave rise to interiors with walls and structure at obtuse angles. What could have been awkward interstitial spaces, are instead punctuated by carefully curated artwork and iconic furniture pieces to extend visual continuity between spaces.

A full-length fluted glass sliding partition between the kitchen and the piano room, allows for the kitchen and servery to be fully open when the client entertains.
